Shady Shapes (a ~$3 hack of Qwirkle)
Qwirkle is as simple as matching colors and shapes, but this game also requires tactical maneuvers and well-planned strategy. Earn points by building rows and columns of blocks that share a common shape or color. Look for opportunities to score big by placing a tile that touches multiple pieces with matching attributes.
Shady Shapes is a ~$3 hack of the game Qwirkle. Using supplies from online and the dollar store, you can make all 108 pieces of this game for just a few dollars AND the pieces are more fun than the original!
(NOTE: The foam stickers used in this hack from Dollar Tree now only have five colors. You will need six different colors. You can create a sixth color by shading in three extra stickers for each shape with a silver Sharpie or similar. It is also recommended that you use 6mm thick black foam sheets. Link to recommended black foam sheets you need for this hack. If cutting 1.5” squares for the pieces, you need 2¼ sheets. So, you can make four hacks with the 10 sheets sold here with some left over.)
